Potassium dihydrogen phosphate is also known as Monopotassium phosphate , abbreviated as MKP . Its chemical formula is KH2PO4 .

It appears as white crystal or white powder , and is odorless and stable in air . It has a relative density of 2.338 and a melting point of 96°C . When heated to 400°C, it transforms into potassium pyrophosphate by losing water.

This compound is easily soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol . Its aqueous solution is acidic with a pH range of 4.4 to 4.7 .
